An abolitionist and outspoken advocate for temperance, civil rights and women’s rights, Sojourner Truth spoke before Congress, met two presidents, and was a friend to many of the leading abolitionists, women’s rights activists and politicians of her time.
Born into slavery, unable to read or write, Truth has become one of the most famous Black women in American history. Sherrie Tolliver of Women in History portrays Sojourner Truth in this virtual presentation.
